Employment History

Aleph Labs

I am currently working at Aleph Labs: a Singapore based full-service design and development agency with a presence throughout the APAC region including Thailand, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam.

My role as a Senior Developer requires me to provide both development and leadership using my experience in offering guidance and mentoring to some of the junior developers. During my time at Aleph I have worked on a number of projects for multiple clients:

The channel admin frontend project is an internal tool which acts as a core configuration application for multiple systems, both internal and customer-facing. My role on this project has been to lead and mentor a team of developers who are responsible for new features and maintainance of exisiting functionality on this business-critical application. Daily duties include liason with various stakeholders, delivery managers, business analysts and project managment on features, converting requirements into action items and working with my team on development, implementation and testing.

UOB Sustainability Project Microsite

Feb 2023 to Mar 2023

Our breif for this environmental sustainability outreach project from UOB was to design and develop an application used to guide UOB Customer SME's in their approach to environmental responsibility. It involves a questionaire that enables UOB to make recommendations to their customers on how they can best adapt to a zero-carbon future.

Standard Chartered Bank
Online Banking Ember to React Migration Project

Aug 2021 to Aug 2022

My first project at Aleph-Labs is working with their long-time client, Standard Chartered Bank. Aleph had been tasked with updating SCB 's online presence to move their existing onlinebanking app away from using Ember to operating solely in React.js. Migrating to a component driven model using Module Federation microservices we fully rebuilt the UI in React using classic Redux for state management. The process involves reverse-engineering the Ember application and splitting the existing application into logical modules to be developed entirely in React.

UOB Infinity & Business Banking

Aug 2022 to Feb 2023

My first job working in Singapore, I was hired by UOB, via a recruitment company, in the role of senior applications developer working on their online-banking portal, UOB Infinity.

The scope of this role was to develop the Hong Kong variant of their core banking application. This involved identifying, planning and implementing the changes required to modify the base application, which was designed for the Singapore market and adapt it to accommodate the differences in the Hong Kong market. This includes changes required to currency, forex, transaction types and banking facilities that are unique or specific to the Hong Kong banking sector

Due to the breadth of changes required across all areas of the application I gained a great deal of experience as we were not focused on one specific area of the app. I also took responsibility for adapting and expanding their core UI component set to facilitate the additional features that were required to accommodate the Hong Kong variant.

Having had no prior experience in the banking sector I found the work at UOB rewarding and enjoyed the challenge of having to understand the obstacles unique to the finance industry and how we can develop software and user interface solutions to overcome them.
